Blood Moon Rises is a collaboration with experimental sound designer /ˈeɪsər/ aka my son Asa, who created the musical soundtrack. The wide panned rhythmic heartbeat of the track is taken from Asa’s recording when he left the microphone recording throughout the night while he was sleeping in the room. A strange ghostly voice appeared on his original eight hour long recording.
Our song is inspired by the town of Bodie, east of the Sierra Nevada mountain range. Bodie became a boom town in 1876 after gold was discovered there. By 1879 it had a population of up to 10,000 and over 2,000 buildings, but by 1915 it was described as a ghost town. It’s still there, frozen in time.
On January 24th and 25th 2020 the Dean’s Marine barge George Dyson made a working trip from Hull’s Albert Dock to York city centre, stopping overnight in Goole along the way.
