Star of The Voice set for sell-out show at The Back Room
We are delighted to announce that Sally Barker will be coming back to play another Loudhailer Special gig in partnership with The Back Room at Cottingham.
Thursday 4th February 2016 at The Back Room, 175a Hallgate, Cottingham, East Yorkshire, HU16 4BB. Tel: 01482 847007.
The Voice finalist Sally Barker is coming to play a Loudhailer Special gig in partnership with The Back Room at Cottingham on Thursday 4th February 2016. Tickets are £12 and are available from the venue.
Sally Barker reduced Tom Jones, and viewers alike, to tears with her flawless performances on BBC’s ‘The Voice’. Whether she is singing to seven million on TV or to 70 people in a club Sally is the consummate professional. It is in live performance that Sally thrives and excels. She has the ability to lift the words off the page as if you were hearing them for the first time, revealing their true meaning.
A seasoned performer, Sally has recorded six solo albums, with song writing influences from folk, jazz, blues and soul, and is well respected for her work with all-female folk group The Poozies. Sally’s years of touring have included countless support slots; Bob Dylan, Robert Plant and Sir Tom amongst them.
Sally remains fiercely independent and true to her craft as she is set to present songs from her new ‘Love Rat’ ep alongside those from albums ‘Maid in England’, ‘Another Train’ and YouTube favourites ‘Dear Darlin’ and ‘To Love Somebody’ – a truly captivating performer as much at home in a folk club as on national television.
Sally’s Cottingham show has resulted from her close relationship with musicians Rich and Lou Duffy-Howard, who perform around the region as Loudhailer, and host a monthly acoustic night, Loudhailer Acoustic at The Back Room.
Lou said: “Sally and I had some fun times over the years and have kept in touch, bumping into each other while playing gigs around the country. We are delighted that Sally is coming to play another Loudhailer Special gig. In 2012 Sally and her musician son Dillon Wakeford turned up to play a Loudhailer Acoustic night together, and she has played twice since then, selling out very quickly last time.
Lou explained: “Our monthly acoustic evenings are always a great eclectic night where people listen and appreciate the music. Because of that we have built a fantastic audience. We know Paul Sutton takes the same approach at The Back Room and we want to support that.”
Paul said: “We’ve built a reputation for bringing superb musicians to the area and putting on fantastic shows. Sally sold out very quickly last time she came to play here. Once people see what a classy venue we have here we expect them to be coming back for the other gigs.”
