Thanks to Robbi and Anita and crew for putting together a fabulous festival of music, art, theatre, workshops, spoken word and photography – reCognition is underway! There are gigs and album launches throughout the whole of September and both the Pop Artspace and Creative and Cultural Co. Artspace in Hull’s Princes Quay are crammed with fantastic art, photographs and installations. It was brilliant to see such a wealth of amazing art and music at last night’s opening, and a great vibe. We’ll be back soon for another look round, but some must sees at the moment are Richard Lee’s ‘We are all Undesirables’ in the downstairs space, Bob Swan’s amazing milk bottle installation in Pop upstairs and of course Richard’s photographs which are now downstairs. Rich has added some new photographs, mostly selected from his favourites from Loudhailer Acoustic.
The artspaces are open from 12 noon every day until 5pm Monday to Saturdays and 4pm on Sundays, so be sure to visit them both when you are in town. There are just too many artists to mention but you can check out the gig schedule on the reCognition Facebook page.
Rich and I are looking forward to playing a Rich & Lou’s Loudhailer set next Friday 12th September as part of a cool line up including Katie Spencer, Kingstown Bluesband, The Hut People, Paul Maxey and on top of all that Queenan Cox’s album launch. Come on down to town to see the terrific reCOGnition exhibitions and if you come next Friday night catch us while you are there!
