Dreamscape painting by GE Saunt

Dreamscape (When I Get Home) – It could almost be a photograph, but it’s not, it’s a painting, part of our new art/music collaboration with Beverley based artist GE Saunt which we are premiering on Friday 20th March at O’Rileys. Entitled ‘Dreamscape (when I get home)’ our show will feature an art montage film with a live soundtrack. Imagine you’ve been away, you come back to Hull, step off the train and look around. Everything is slightly different than you remember it. Surely the City Hall isn’t opposite the station? Has that shark escaped from The Deep? And was that Elvis walking past the Tower? Is it a dream, or is it real? That’s the story we tell with artist GE Saunt’s pictures and our new live music soundtrack.

MG Greaves: A true legend of the Hull music scene MG (Mike) Greaves certainly deserves to be a household name. Known as the ‘Godfather of UK Country’, Steve Wright (BBC Radio 2) described him as “a British Bruce Springsteen” and the Radio Times gave him the accolade of ‘the future of country music in Britain’. Mike is much more than a country singer, he is a superb songwriter and like all great country artists writes about people and their stories. Hull and it’s people run strongly through the veins of Mike’s songs. Paul Heaton of the Beautiful South has long been a fan of Mike’s and the Beautiful South recorded seven of his songs including Diamond Always Shine and Frank and Delores, both of which featured on the million selling album Carry On Up The Charts. In 2011 Mike performed at the Manchester International Festival as part of Paul Heaton’s song anthology The 8th and In 2014 Mike launched the Hull Music Archive at Hull’s Adelphi Club, alongside Wreckless Eric.

It’s all part of our next hometown gig, Loudhailer Electric Company, with the legendary MG Greaves on the bill. Friday 20th March, 8pm, advance tickets £7 from Hull Box Office. Click here for info and tickets
