Why do venues and bands nag you constantly about purchasing tickets in advance…? It’s simple. Music venues are marginal enterprises, especially after COVID. They need to have at least enough people attending events to cover the costs and advance ticket sales are an indication of the likely turnout. Bands and venues will often cancel gigs if ticket sales are poor. So if you’re planning to attend a gig, please buy the tickets in advance! It’s much cheaper that way and you’ll be assured of getting in. And if it turns out you can’t get there on the day, or pass the tickets on, then see it as a donation towards keeping music live in Hull!
