It was a lovely chilled evening at Loudhailer Acoustic this time with time for three songs from all the performers in the first set and even another round after the break. We took the opportunity to open the show with our new Dark Guitar and a swinging set. Joan took some photos of us rockin’ out. Gifford Rolfe played three songs from his brand new album Between that Ocean and this Sky. I was delighted to accompany him on bass. You can see that from Rich’s photos in the gallery here, have a look through…
We loved Jim Orwin’s set of his songs which were new to Loudhailer – great to hear. Then his stunning rendition of Lyle Lovett’s Pontiac after the break was perfectly measured.
Roy Kibbler, even described in the Hull Daily Mail as the Odd Poet this week was as thought provoking and on the button as ever. It was great to see new faces in the audience this month, and I could see by the smiles everyone was fascinated and totally engaged with Roy’s wickedly witty wordsmithery.
Vivian Querido’s world music solo violin pieces were haunting and beautiful, and we were treated to a fine and edgy new composition so hot off the press that it is yet to be titled.
Gifford was joined by Joan Foye to close the show with a fine duet, a lovely finale for the evening.
