Rich and I have been running Loudhailer Acoustic at various venues since 2011. It’s been a fantastic journey so far and there have been magic moments at every session. We have made some lovely new friends, and caught up with some long time ones along the way. Of course we have seen the most amazing and eclectic live sets every time – terrific. A great feature of the evening is Rich’s portraits and as we embark on another year (and a new camera) he has chosen his favourite photos of the last few years. Have a look through the gallery to see the full picture and captions…
Look no strings!
This is one of a series of great shots of Ed and Jeff and captured what was a fab fun night and the last at the Methodist Hall
Andy and Julie at the Filey Folk Festival – memories of a lovely weekend.
Matt played early on at the Acoustic Night when we started at the cafe in 2011 and gradually the Smugglers appeared. Remembering an early version of “Follow the Heron Home” from then still makes for a warm glow.
Gifford getting dressed, and Joan looking lovely, Xmas 2013
Frankie takes a lovely photo – but there’s something about this one from the Seaside Special, May 2015.
The Odd Poet from Snaith was a hard nut to crack photographically speaking but finally got him the other week. This is the photo that got him the audition for the next Doctor Who…
Tom Kay and Martin Clappison, May 2012 and The Mighty and the Moon are yet to be…
Bill and Darren from September 2013 – this always makes me smile.
A master of the guitar which ever way you look at it….
I was really pleased with this image of Jim, still trying to better it.
Only got one shot of Mike and this is it!
Got this shot of Pete just before he launched into Canned Heat’s “On the Road Again”.
Tried to capture the lonesome, dark and spooky blues of Jackson D….
Calling occupants of interplanetary craft in Filey for the Seaside Special at the Folk Festival.
Love this shot – Dex does too.
This one appeared by chance totally out of nowhere, as did Opher Goodwin I guess
The Reverend that made a wonderful 18 months of Loudhailer possible at the MC Hall – thanks again Mike!
Karl Oakes – the first person to get in touch when we started the acoustic night in 2011 – this is from February 2013.
Cowboy and crew leading the new bass astray…
It’s been great to get to know Katie and Mark and Carol. This photo is from a performance in May 2014 and still a favourite.
A serious side to Dick Appleton? Dex loves this portrait too.
It’s always a lovely and friendly atmosphere at LA but it’s always good to know Judge Dread is on hand, just in case.
Catherine on the punch line and making everyone laugh.
KPOW! Jack in the groove.

Gifford and Lou – great times, great boots.
Love the way Dodge introduces his songs and this shows it.
This always reminds me of Johnny Cash for some reason – love it.
I like this shot a lot – Graham likes the t shirt a lot – I love the pinks and greens – win win.
I’ve taken a few good shots of Vivian – this is one of my favourites.
