There were two superb Perfect Combination shows this year, ‘Let’s Get Back To Rock n Roll’ evening at The Willows, Holderness Road and ‘Acoustic East Coast Shakedown’ afternoon at The Back Room Cottingham.
A big thanks from Andy Richardson and me Lou, to everybody involved in Perfect Combination IV. The original idea four years ago was to put on a live gig to complement the Perfect Combination albums curated by Andy, celebrating Hull’s musical heritage captured at Fairview Studio 1973 -1993. We teamed up with Gary and Hazel Hughes to raise funds for The Stephen Hughes Foundation.
Saturday afternoon’s line up was full of fantastic sets from The Arkut Brothers – Sam and Ben, Urban Rain, One Scotch One Bourbon One Beer, Mike Greaves’ Lonesome Too and Work in Progress. Everybody pulled out the stops and the atmosphere in The Back Room was brilliant. Thanks to Paul Sutton at The Back Room for having us, we all had a really lovely afternoon.

All the proceeds Perfect Combination IV – £1,500 are for local charity, The Stephen Hughes Foundation. Stephen was a young Hull born school teacher and footballer who had been a student at Wolfreton School. Stephen died at the age of 23 of the heart condition giant cell myocarditis. The charity set up in his name raises funds for the British Heart Foundation, the Myocarditis Foundation and the Stephen Hughes Foundation Music and Sports Awards help primary school children participate in sport for social skills and self-esteem purposes. A Perfect Combination is delighted to support The Stephen Hughes Foundation celebrating Stephen’s life by creating real positive musical and sporting benefits for children and young people.
